Sarah helped me make this ridiculous awesomeness. I have never been so amused so easily. I can’t stop laughing every time I look at it and I just wish that I could ride around with a gun in one hand or at least in my back so I can pull when needed. I would have shot about 3 people today.

i feel like this deserves some yapping about.

today i drove a car in NYC for the first time ever. as some of you know, i have had some crazy car stories and took several years off driving. a few months ago, i got my license back. i drove one day in LA and nothing since. today, in the pouring rain and super wind crap, sarah and i came back to NYC from Boston and she had to rush to school so i had to drive the rental car back to brooklyn at the start of rush hour. ha! perfect. the last time i had a rental car was in Atlanta about 4 years ago and i wrecked it. didn’t drive for years since. it was 100% my fault. woops. rage.

all i can really say about today is that riding a bike in manhattan is way faster and way less annoying. there are just way too many cars in the city and lots of them have assholes for drivers. i got to be one of those assholes today. not hoping i have to do it too often.

and i didn’t hurt anyone.

I am beginning to really dislike holidays. I have always been a bit of a Scrooge and have referred to holidays, even my own birthdays, as faux hype. In the past year or so, since Ray was killed, I have developed a strong hate for them all. Any form of reflection that holidays ensue lead me to thinking of him. Sometimes, I pick up the phone to call him and then have a complete meltdown when I remember he is gone. I do that a lot when I have some good news I want to share with someone. It’s a real downer.

So, today, I decided to do something that would make me happy and that would be something he would love too. I finally got to go on a bike ride thanks to the higher temps for snow meltage. I did his favorite ride. Central Park loops. One of our last conversations was about how we were going to race the loop every day when he came back. He never made it to NY again.

Then I cooked his favorite meal that I made for him often. Green bean casserole with home made french fried onions. Broccoli salad. Mashed Potatoes. Yum!!!

Last, I read all the notes, messages, etc. that I have from him. Some date back to 2001 and some are from the day before he died.

I found a photo of him that I didn’t remember. It made my year! No joke.

Now, I can try and get through the rest of the night without trying to not think about the one thing it is inevitable that I think about.

I will miss him forever. Sunday will mark exactly one and a half years. It’s no better than it was the day I woke up to find out the news. It’s just different. I remind myself of Ray’s favorite advice to me.

tonight i went to my first spin class at my gym. i have been to tons of spin classes before but just not here. i was one of the first in class so i was getting set up and just smiled and said hi to the teacher who looked me up and down and then said, “you know you have to sign up for this class.” well since i didnt i nicely asked her what the process was which i found out was nothing other than initialing for a certain bike at the front desk. she was all bitchy about it but i remained nice (kill em with kindness style). i then went downstairs and signed up.

when i got back, she acted super pissed. i guess she thought id be intimidated by her or maybe get lost on my way to “sign up” and never make it back. i got back on the bike and she came over to bitch about how i should bring different shoes. i told her that the shoes i had on are the most comfortable for the cages and that i have always liked them best for biking.

she said….

“well this is not like riding on the street and you come in here with all your little bike tattoos and think you know.”

she had no idea what was coming….

i dont even remember what i said really but it was something along the lines of..

“i have plenty of bike experience whether it be on the road or in a class and i know what works for me. you stick to what works for you. i have been nothing but nice since i walked in this door and you have been nothing but a cunt. i am guessing you are pissed because you have to look in the mirror everyday and wonder why spin class isnt changing the fact that you are fat and generally not fun to look at. wipe that “i just ate shit” look off your face, teach the fucking class, and do not mess with me. if you want to test my bike skills, id like to meet you between a cab and a UPS truck and see who makes it out. i bet it would be me….and id do it with my fucking asics on.”

and i ended with my favorite phrase…..”dark alley bitch, dark alley. i will cut you.”

i felt bad about it for a minute…… but that passed.

then i saw the manager on the way out and since i know him from going to the gym years ago, i told him what happened. he said she was on her last straw and apparently has something against white girls and especially of my style ( i guess thats tattooed.) i can honestly say that i do not feel bad if she gets fired. in this crapped out economy, that behavior is more unacceptable than ever.

at least it got my heart rate up to get pissed.

let me preface a bit. i randomly got a friend request on facebook from a guy who said he saw me on my neighborhood page and says he lives in LIC and sees me around and wanted to get to know me. sounded like a gentleman the way it read and from his page he seemed very much a normal dude (not my type at all by the way). so, i decided to be nice and expand my network a bit and maybe have a friend in my hood. we email a bit and the next day he IMs me and this is what we get……..

well Kevin….. im guessing you have been single for some time. i see why. first of all, hey beautiful and hey gorgeous is pretty lame. sure, those things are nice and all but i dont think its really necessary when you are having your first chat with me. just weird. and seriously, its not like im in a bikini showing all. and is that really the best thing you can come up with. i mean, does this really work on other girls? ladies? mind you, this dude has no swagger whatsoever. im sure he wouldnt even really understand the word in context.

but more important than anything……one thing that drives me fucking nuts. you ask me if i want to go out for drinks. i say i dont drink. then you have the nerve to say “how about making out?” this is a grown man. how do so many of them get stuck in grade school when it comes to women??? anyway – so then a few hours later, douche bag sends me a message asking if we can meet for drinks in LIC……..

i actually find it very hilarious for some reason. i kept coming back to my computer today at work and laughing at the douche baggery.

and you wonder why i am forever single.

last week, i made the mistake of thinking that i could go without a helmet since i couldnt fit it in my girly purse that is the only bag that matched my little flowery dress. BAD IDEA!
i left the event like a ninja on a mission. i wanted to get in a workout. as i saw a long stretch of open road, i started flying.
out of nowhere, with no thought of braking, a dirty hipster came running into the road and smash…..
concussion. big ass bruises on the leg…yes, the same leg that is still healing from being doored months back.
so, the main point is that it was the first time i have gone without a helmet and i ended up with a concussion. lesson learned? god, i hope so!!!!

just want to share that not only is this combo super yummy but i have had it several days in the past couple weeks and i can notice a difference in my mood and energy level for the better when i have this acai stuff.

my fav recipe with acai is:

1 pack of frozen acai berry
1 banana
1 cup of light soy milk
ice

blender on high one minute.

i started something today that i have wanted to do for a very long time. it involves someone with a plastic surgery license and lasers.
when i was in high school, the most likely graduation gift was plastic surgery. i think #1 was breast implants and #2 was the nose job. when all my friends were gabbing about this stuff, being the researcher that i am, i took to the internet to see what all one could get “done.” after a short obsession with lip implants that i could never go through with after watching the actual surgery on video, i found it. i wanted to never have to shave my legs again. lasers could kill the hair for a hefty price and a session every 2 months with 6 sessions in total.
i’ve almost done this several times since i first discovered it. today i actually started it at American Laser Center on 68th and 5th Ave. can’t say its fun. it hurts a lot. i am paying for someone to make me want to kick them in the face. i cant wait to see how it works though. nothing magical has happened yet. they say it takes about 3 sessions before you stop shaving.
i am looking forward to it ending but that wont be till this time next year. wow.
maybe by then, i will have a love for the lasers.
